Online promoting

What does online promoting mean?

The Page Rank is a Google patent which rates the importance of a certain web page. The Page Rank is a criteria considered by Google in order to set the position of a certain site to a specific search.
The Page Rank is calculated by Google considering a mathematic algorithm, taking into consideration the number and quality of the links to that specific page.
The Page Rank is a “mark” on a scale from 1 to 10, granted to the site by the most important search engine Google.

Domain registration

What is a domain and how can I get one?
A domain name is a set of alphanumeric characters followed by de .ro, .com, .net, .org, .info or any other extension of an upper level than these.
In order to register a domain you first have to check whether it is available, than to fill in a form and then you receive by e-mail a pro-forma invoice. After the payment, you have to send a confirmation e-mail, and we shall keep back the domain on your account or on the account of your company. What is a sub-domain?
The sub-domains are a way of creating separate accounts to the main account. These accounts are to be accessed to different URLs, on the format http://subdomain.yourdomain.ro.

What does the domain parking mean?
Let’s take into consideration you have 2 domains: domain1.ro and domain2.ro. You already have a site for domain1.ro, but you don’t want to create a new site for domain2.ro. By parking domain2.ro over domain1.ro, the users that get to domain2.ro will be automatically redirected to domain1.ro.

On what name do I register the domain?
The domain is registered directly to the client’s name, no matter it was bought or freely received through the acquisition of a web hosting package.

How can I move a domain on the webmediadesign.eu servers?
To move a domain .ro from a certain server on one of our servers you need to access this link http://www.rotld.ro/engleza/inregistrare_domeniu_en/modificarins_en.php and to fill in that form.
Pick out what you need to change, meaning Domain Name Servers (DNS), and How many DNS servers will you have? put 2 (two).

Then you are asked to fill in the new name-servers:
ns1.webmediadesign.eu
ns2.webmediadesign.eu

After this you will receive an e-mail from RNC containing the confirmation code for the name-servers changing. You need to confirm following the instructions in the e-mail.
Your domain will be able to function within 24 to 72 hours starting with the confirmation.

What kind of domains can I register to webmediadesign.eu?
You can register through our company all kinds of domains shown on our registration of domains page. If you want to register other types of domains, please contact us to check for the availability of this option.

How do I change the name-servers to .com, .net, .eu ... name-servers?
Please contact us for any changes to name-servers or other contact details to international domains.

In how much time does a .ro domain become available?
If you ordered a .ro domain with or without web hosting, this should be available for you in 48 hours tops (Monday to Friday) from the moment you confirm the payment.

In how much time does a .com, .net, .eu... domain become available?
Domains like com / net / org / info / biz / us / eu are available within 15 minutes to 6 hours from the payment confirmation, if you confirm by 4 p.m.; if the confirmation is after 4 p.m. the domain becomes available within 12 hours.

How do I choose the right domain?
1. Choose a domain that suites your business, the products or the services you offer;
2. An Internet domain consists of maximum 63 characters; though you should choose the shortest name, in order to be easily retined;
3. Use a keyword in the domain name (that best suites your business, your products or your services);
4. The easier to pronounce the domain name, the easier to retain by your users;
5. If the domain you want is taken, you can use the “-“ sign (ex. if www.businessname.ro is not available, you should try www.business-name.ro);
6. To prevent someone else buying a domain that resembles yours, buy all the domains to be written or read the same.

Email

How do I create a new e-mail account?
Log on to Control Panel, then to the "E-Mail" option:
1. "Add/Remove accounts" on the section "Mail Manager"
2. Select "Add Account"
3. Fill in the first part of your address, the password, into the E-mail and Password forms
4. Fill in the maximum space for this account (MB). If you do not put down any value, the maximum space will consist of the subscribing fee for the specified subscription.
5. Click the "Create" button

How Outlook Express gets configured?
Outlook Express is one of the most popular e-mail clients.
The Control Panel offers the possibility of automatic configuration, this way you save time and you avoid configuration errors.
1. Select "Mail Manager"
2. Select "Add/Remove Accounts"
3. Select "Outlook (Express) AutoConfig"
4. Save the file on your hard-disk.
5. Run the saved file

Alternatively, you can manually configure Outlook Express following the next steps:
1. Access Tools/Accounts
2. Select Add Mail
3. Display Name: Your Name.
4. Email address: the complete e-mail address (ex. account@yourdomain.ro)
5. Incoming/outgoing: mail.yourdomain.ro
6. Account Name: fill in with the account name, it is recommended to use the e-mail address to avoid later confusion to the e-mail account administration
7. Password: the e-mail account password

NOTE: In the "Servers" section mark the "My server requires authentication" option.

Which are the e-mail servers?
Incoming Mail Server (POP3): mail.choosen-domain.ro
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): mail.choosen-domain.ro

What is a POP3 account?
A POP3 account is a "mailbox" where the e-mails are kept on the server until you download them with a client program for e-mail. "Outlook Express" or "Eudora" or "The Bat!" are such programs. There are thousands of such programs.

Can I have an unbounded sum of e-mail accounts?
Yes, as administrator of a site you can set as many e-mail accounts as you wish, using our hosting package (this kind of package allows an unbounded sum of e-mail accounts to be created). You only have to pay attention not to outrun the allocated traffic and disk space. Normally though, any small company needs 20 accounts tops, however it’s your call of administrating the space and traffic.

How do I use the Webmail?
Accessing the e-mails by Webmail: www.yourdomain.ro/webmail. We recommend using the Horde program which you can find by accessing the Webmail.

How do I change the password to a certain e-mail account?
You have to be logged on to the Control Panel, then the "Mail" option:
1. Select "Add/Remove Accounts" in Mail Manager
2. Select the "Change Password" link from your e-mail account
3. Put down the new password in the "New Password" field.
4. Click the "Change" button

How do I change the space for an e-mail account?
You have to log on to the Control Panel then to the "Mail" option, and then:
1. Select Add/Remove Accounts
2. Select "Change Quota"
3. Fill in the wanted dimensions (MB). If you want the e-mail account dimension to be limited by the dimensions of your site on the server, put down "unlimited"
4. Click the "Change" button

How do I set default an e-mail address?
All e-mails sent to a non-existent e-mail address are forwarded to a default account. Changing this default account. 1. Select "Default Address" in the "Mail" option 2. Select "Set Default Address" 3. Fill in the complete e-mail address (ex. adress@yourdomain.com). If you want all the e-mails that come to a non-existent address to be ignored, put down: ":black-hole:". If you want to reply them to their sender, put down ":fail:". 4. Click the "Change" button.

How do I filter unsolicited messages?
One way of preventing unsolicited e-mail is blocking an individual e-mail address. As soon as you get certified in the Control Panel, click on the "Mail" button from the menu and select "Email Filtering". Here you can see the filters and set new ones with the help of the link below, which will help you control the incoming e-mails. Sender Subject Message Header Message Content Caution is recommended when using this facility in order to make sure you do not block legitimate and even all incoming e-mails. Just as well, please do not use special characters for the blocking rules, as it is possible for them to damage your e-mail account inbox.

I haven’t been able to receive e-mails for days; what might be the problem?
The most frequent problem in this case is the fact that the inbox is full; so we recommend to delete some of the e-mails or to enlarge this e-mail account quota.

I can not send e-mails, which is the problem?
Check the settings of your e-mail account:
Incoming + Outgoing mail server: mail.choose-domain.com
Check whether the "My outgoing server requires authentication" box is marked.
Check the installation of a firewall which will block the access on ports 25 and 110.
Check whether your Internet provider allows you to connect to our servers on ports 25 and 110.

Do you offer the possibility of creating auto-responders?
All of our plans include the possibility of creating auto-responders. An auto-responder is an e-mail address that automatically sends a reply for each received e-mail. You are allowed to specify the subject and content of the e-mail to be send as a response in the control panel.

Do you offer the possibility of forwarding e-mails?
Yes, we offer the possibility of forwarding e-mails.

FTP - File Transfer Protocol

Why do I need FTP Acces?
In order to transfer files with the help of FTP we use an application called client which will make a connection to another computer, called server.
There are many FTP client applications. Some are involved into the browsers, some are web applications (for example File Manager which is part of the Control Panel).

How do I connect to FTP?
To connect to FTP we recommend that we use a FTP program.
The necessary information for the connection:
- hostname (the name of your site, without www)
- user and password (site user and password)

How do I stop the anonymous FTP access?
Access the Control Panel, then:
1. Select "FTP Manager"
2. Select "Anonymous FTP Controls"
3. Unmark "Allow anonymous access to ftp://ftp.yourdomain.ro" and "Allow anonymous upload to ftp://ftp.yourdomain.com/incoming"
4. Click the "Save settings" button

Can I have multiple FTP accounts?
You can add FTP accounts, allowing full access to your directories or to restrain the access to a certain sub-domain (also configured in the Control Panel for the specified account). Remember any FTP additional account configured to access a sub-domain will use bit different authentication. Just as well, the domain to be used for FTP access has the following format: user@domain.ro

Can I upload files directly from my account?
Yes you can! In Control Panel you have the "File Manager" option, which can be used for file uploading, deleting and consent management.

Can I use Microsoft FrontPage 2002 to upload to your servers?
Yes you can. You can use FrontPage 2002, FrontPage 98 and FrontPage 97.

Where should I post the site files?
All the files you want to be seen on web should be posted in the "public_html" directory.

What MYSQL version can I find on your servers?
The up-to-date version of MYSQL to be used is 4.1.21-standard-log.

What PHP version do you use?
For the moment we offer the following PHP versions: 4.4.4 and 5.1.6.

What PERL version is to be found on webmediadesign.eu servers?
The PERL version is 5.1.6.
